What we do

We take a used car from a listing in Europe all the way to Greek plates. You tell us what you are looking for, or send us a listing you found, and we take it from there.

  1. Search. We look for cars that match the model, budget and year you want.
  2. Inspection before purchase. Documents, chassis number (VIN), service book, paint thickness and a diagnostic scan. The full list is on our Greek page how we check the car.
  3. Purchase and paperwork. We close the purchase and collect every document customs needs.
  4. Transport. By road, about 5 working days from closing the deal to Greece.
  5. Customs and registration tax. We handle the whole procedure at customs.
  6. ΚΤΕΟ where required, plates, handover. You collect the car ready to drive.

The step-by-step process, with the Greek terms explained, is in our guide how to import a car from Germany to Greece.

What it costs

The total is the purchase price plus transport, warranty, inspection and handling, the Greek registration tax, €250 for the ΚΤΕΟ test, fees and transfer, €350 for the customs broker, and the annual road tax. You get transport and our service in a written quote, with the final price up to Greek plates. The registration tax is the part that changes most from car to car. It depends on what the same version cost new in Greece, its CO₂, its Euro class and its age, and not on the price you pay. Four worked examples, calculated on 14/10/2026:

Registration tax in four worked examples (calculated 14/10/2026)
CarRegistration tax
VW Polo 1.0 TSI (2020)€164.49
VW Golf 1.5 TSI 150 PS (2021)€527.36
VW Golf 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid (2021)€451.76
VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI (2020)€1,795.41

When importing does not pay

We say this before any deal is agreed. Importing usually does not pay for:

  • very cheap cars, because the fixed costs eat the saving;
  • Euro 4 and Euro 5 cars, because the tax rate is multiplied and an environmental fee of €1,000 or €3,000 is added;
  • nearly new cars (up to 6 months since first registration or up to 6,000 km), which pay 24% Greek VAT;
  • models that are already cheap and common in Greece.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to import a car from Germany to Greece?

From the moment the purchase is closed, the car reaches Greece in about 5 working days by road. After that come the Vehicle Arrival Declaration, the Special Declaration at customs where the registration tax is paid, the ΚΤΕΟ check where required and the Greek plates. ΑΑΔΕ, the Greek tax and customs authority, allows up to 30 days from arrival to file the Special Declaration.

Do I pay customs duty or VAT on a used car from Germany?

There is no customs duty on a car bought in another EU country. You do not pay VAT again either, as long as the car counts as used: more than 6 months since first registration and more than 6,000 km. If it misses either condition, it counts as new and 24% Greek VAT is due. What you do pay is the Greek registration tax (τέλος ταξινόμησης).

Can you check a car I found myself?

Yes. Send us the listing and we check it before anything else happens. If you have not found one yet, tell us the model, budget, year and mileage and we search for you.

Is it worth importing a car that costs less than €5,000?

Usually not. The fixed costs of an import are there whatever the car is worth, before the registration tax is even added, and on a €4,000 or €5,000 car they eat the saving.
